The infrastructures hosting these biological collections are located within the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, Cochin Hospital, and Necker Hospital. They form the Federation of CRB\/PRB (Biological Resource Centers\/Biological Resource Platforms) within the University Medical Department of Molecular Biology, Genomic and Physiological Medicine at the AP-HP.Centre\u2013Universit\u00e9 de Paris Hospital Group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Historically, in 2011, the OncoHEGP project, a tumor bank at HEGP, was launched. This project, dedicated to managing biological resources collected during standard care, aimed primarily to strengthen the biological resources available for research. A few years later, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Federation\u2019s members and the involvement of three engineers recruited by CARPEM, the project was expanded to Cochin in 2015 (OncoCCH) and to Necker in 2017 (OncoNEM), eventually becoming the \u201cOncoCentre\u201d biological collection in 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The OncoCentre collaborative project involves the three hospital sites of the Group: HEGP, Cochin, and Necker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A single information note and consent form, \u201cOncoCentre,\u201d was established for the three AP-HP.Centre hospitals (Georges Pompidou, Necker, and Cochin) to inform patients about the possibility of collecting biological samples as part of their care.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This form complies with legal and ethical requirements and received a favorable opinion from the Ile-de-France II Committee for the Protection of Persons on 07\/20\/2020. Thanks to the OncoCCH and OncoHEGP projects, thousands of healthcare samples are usable for research, within a defined framework and meeting the criteria of the ethics committee. As the quantity of samples available for research has increased dramatically, the virtual tumour bank will then allow any investigator to visualise the high quality biological material available for research projects. It is essential for patients to be aware of the major role they play in the storage of samples and data. Therefore, it is crucial that they understand the rules, limitations, and challenges surrounding this entire process. The free and informed consent agreement must be better supported for the benefit of the patient.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">To this end, and in collaboration with graphic design schools, two 3D\/2D animated films were created by CARPEM engineers. One of these films is already being shown in the waiting rooms of the oncology department at HEGP: <i>\u201cWe Are All Actors in Cancer Research.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This education campaign has already received two awards from the Ligue contre le Cancer \u2013 Comit\u00e9 de Paris and the Fondation H\u00f4pitaux de Paris \u2013 H\u00f4pitaux de France (MACSF Prize). These structures operate as Functional Units within the University Medical Department of Molecular Biology, Genomic and Physiological Medicine at the AP-HP.Centre\u2013Universit\u00e9 Paris Cit\u00e9 Hospital Group.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=&#8221;32460&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_tta_accordion style=&#8221;simple_solid&#8221; shape=&#8221;square&#8221; c_icon=&#8221;solid_squared&#8221; active_section=&#8221;6354&#8243; no_fill=&#8221;true&#8221; collapsible_all=&#8221;true&#8221;][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;HEGP &#8211; Biological Resources Platform&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1741084761458-46023731-c4bb&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1741085187086{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Formed from the merger of two functional units in 2011\u2014the Biological Resource Center and the Tumor Bank\u2014the Biological Resource Platform of HEGP (PRB-HEGP) is jointly led by Professor Virginie Verkarre and Dr. Benoit Vedie. Since December 2023, it has been certified under the international standard EN ISO 20387 (previously certified under the NF S96-900 standard). These two functional units operate together under the same Quality Management System (QMS) with shared personnel:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022The Biological Resource Center manages liquid samples (primarily blood).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022The Tumor Bank preserves frozen pathological and normal tissue samples, mainly from head and neck, thoracic, gynecological, urological, digestive, and endocrine cancers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><b>PRB-HEGP Plays a Key Role in Sample Management:<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022It organizes the collection, transportation, processing, protection, retrieval, and availability of biological samples.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022It records bio-clinical information related to the samples.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022It provides researchers with high-quality biological material, along with expertise in data and sample management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">\u2022It supports investigators in project development by offering expertise in biological collection management, processing workflows, and regulatory and ethical documentation essential for study initiation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">All these facilities comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements. Their activities are conducted in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined in their charters. A strategic committee and a scientific committee oversee adherence to their policies.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;H\u00f4pital Cochin &#8211; Tumour Library \/ Cell Library \/ Biological Resource Centre&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1741084761458-3d5f4e9e-5de3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1741085231796{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Established in March 2015, the <span class=\"s1\">Biological Resource Center (CRB)<\/span> is located within Cochin Hospital and is led by Professor B\u00e9atrice Parfait. The CRB incorporated the hospital\u2019s former cell bank, which was primarily focused on genetic diseases.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since 2015, the CRB has expanded its activities and now hosts significant biological resource collections in various fields, including a major oncology collection. It has been certified under the international <span class=\"s1\">EN ISO 20387<\/span> standard for all its activities related to the reception, preparation, preservation, and provision of cells, biological fluids, and derived products since December 2022. Previously, it was certified under the <span class=\"s1\">NF S96-900<\/span> standard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>CRB Cancer\/Tumor Bank<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Founded in 2006, the <span class=\"s1\">Cochin Hospital Tumor Bank<\/span>, directed by Professor Audrey Mansuet-Lupo, is dedicated to cancer research across a broad range of pathologies, including digestive, endocrine, gynecological, bone and soft tissue, urological, hematological, dermatological, and thoracic cancers. This facility specializes in the reception, preservation, processing, and provision of normal and tumor tissue samples (from biopsies or surgeries) and their derivatives (DNA and RNA). The tumor bank has been certified since 2013 under the <span class=\"s1\">NF S96-900<\/span> biobank standard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\"><b>Cell Bank (Celluloth\u00e8que)<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Established in 2006 within the biological hematology department, the <span class=\"s1\">Cochin Hospital Cell Bank<\/span>, led by Professor Michaela Fontenay, is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of samples collected during patient care and clinical research protocols, primarily in the field of <span class=\"s1\">myeloid hematologic disorders<\/span>, with a special focus on <span class=\"s1\">myelodysplastic syndromes<\/span> and <span class=\"s1\">acute myeloid leukemia<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Affiliated with the <span class=\"s1\">molecular onco-hematology<\/span> division of the laboratory (Professor Olivier Kosmider), the cell bank is structured to store and distribute nucleic acids (DNA\/RNA) and frozen live cells obtained from bone marrow, blood, and biopsies collected for medical care, following the signing of the <span class=\"s1\">OncoCentre<\/span> consent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Since <span class=\"s1\">2017<\/span>, the cell bank has consolidated sample collections for the <span class=\"s1\">diagnosis and monitoring of myeloid hematologic disorders<\/span> across the three hospital sites (<span class=\"s1\">Necker, HEGP, and Cochin<\/span>).<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Necker Hospital &#8211; Biological Resource Centre&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1741084761459-b73b0607-6315&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <\/span>Necker Hospital biobank<span class=\"s1\">, included in the CARPEM project, is limited to <\/span>adult hematological cancers<span class=\"s1\">, as <\/span>pediatric tumors, developmental disorders, and non-neoplastic pathologies (such as inflammatory diseases)<span class=\"s1\"> are outside the scope of CARPEM.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <\/span>Necker Biological Resource Platform (PRB)<span class=\"s1\">, coordinated by <\/span>Dr. M.A. Alyanakian<span class=\"s1\">, includes the <\/span>tumor bank<span class=\"s1\">, which mainly consists of collections from the <\/span>Biological Hematology Department (Pr. Elizabeth Macintyre)<span class=\"s1\">, the <\/span>Anatomy and Pathology Cytology Department (Pr. Jean-Christophe Fournet)<span class=\"s1\">, and the <\/span>Histo-Embryology &amp; Cytogenetics Unit (Pr. Michel Vekemans).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">In <span class=\"s2\">2017, CARPEM recruited a biologist<\/span>, enabling the PRB to conduct a <span class=\"s2\">retrospective analysis (2011-2016)<\/span> on informed consent associated with samples from three hematological cancers (at <span class=\"s2\">Necker and HEGP<\/span>) that are frequently the subject of translational research:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"> 1. <\/span>Mantle cell lymphoma<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"> 2. <\/span>Adult T-cell leukemia\/lymphoma (HTLV1-related)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"> 3. <\/span>Enteropathy-associated T-cell lymphoma<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The analysis revealed that <\/span>100% of consent statuses were accessible<span class=\"s1\">, and <\/span>48% of consents were available<span class=\"s1\"> for these three pathologies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][\/vc_tta_accordion][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row equal_height=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;] The biological collections associated with the CARPEM&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"parent":31210,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-31217","page","type-page","status-publish"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
